About these terms
These terms apply when you ask us for a price or book work with us. "We" and "us" means NT Electric Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 11312129). Registered office: 55 Grass Acres, Leicester, England, LE3 2UR.
Please read them before you accept a price. If you are a consumer, nothing here affects your legal rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
Your fixed price
- We price each job as a whole, from your photos or a survey visit. We don't charge by the hour.
- Every price lists what is included. That is the price you pay for that work.
- A price is valid for 30 days unless it says otherwise, because material costs change.
- The contract starts when you accept the price in writing. A WhatsApp message, text or email saying yes is enough.
A price from photos relies on the photos and details you send. If what we find on the day is clearly different from what was shown, we will explain the difference before starting and you can decide whether to go ahead.
Extra work only with your approval
If we find something unexpected, such as a hidden fault, rotten timber or a failed pipe behind a wall, we stop, show you and give you a separate fixed price. We never do extra work, or add to your bill, without your clear agreement first. If the problem makes something unsafe, we will make it safe and explain why.
What we ask of you
- Give us safe access to the work area at the agreed time, with a place to park or unload nearby.
- Clear the area of furniture and valuables where possible, or let us know so we can plan.
- Tell us about anything that affects the job, such as asbestos reports, known faults or shared supplies.
- If you are a tenant, make sure your landlord has agreed to the work.
Materials and your own parts
We supply materials from reputable trade suppliers unless the price says otherwise. Parts stay our property until they are paid for.
If you want us to fit something you have bought yourself, we will check it is suitable. Our guarantee then covers our fitting work; any fault with the item itself is a matter for the seller or manufacturer.
Rearranging a visit
Life happens. Please give us at least 24 hours' notice if you need to move a booked visit. If we have to rearrange, for example because of illness or an emergency on another job, we will tell you as early as we can and offer the next available slot.
Your right to cancel within 14 days
If you are a consumer and you agreed the contract away from our premises, for example at your home, by phone, online or on WhatsApp, you can cancel within 14 days of the day you accept our price, without giving a reason. This is your right under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.
To cancel, tell us clearly by phone, WhatsApp, email or letter. You can use the model form below, but you don't have to. We will refund any payment within 14 days of your cancellation, using the same payment method.
If you want us to start within the 14 days
You can ask us to start sooner, for example for a leak or a fault. We will ask you to confirm this in writing. If you then cancel within the 14 days, you pay a fair amount for the work already done and materials already fitted or specially ordered for you. If we complete the whole job within the 14 days at your request, you can no longer cancel it.
Payment
- When
- On completion. For larger jobs, a deposit when you accept the price and the rest on completion.
- How
- Cash or bank transfer
- Invoice
- You receive an itemised invoice that matches your fixed price, plus any extras you approved in writing.
For larger jobs we may ask for a deposit to cover specially ordered materials. This will always be written on the price before you accept it.
For business customers, invoices are due within 14 days. We may charge statutory interest and compensation on late payment under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.
Our guarantee
We guarantee our workmanship for 12 months from the day the job is finished. If something we fitted fails because of how we did the work, we come back and put it right at no cost.
Parts and appliances also carry the manufacturer's own warranty. We will help you claim on it. The guarantee doesn't cover normal wear and tear, damage, misuse, or later changes by someone else.
This guarantee is in addition to your legal rights. By law, our work must be carried out with reasonable care and skill, and if it isn't, you can ask us to repeat it or, if that isn't possible, to give you some money back.
Certificates and regulations
Electrical work is tested and certified to BS 7671. Where work is notifiable under Part P of the Building Regulations, it is notified to building control as the law requires, and you receive the certificate.
We do not work on gas appliances, boilers or gas pipework. That work must be done by a Gas Safe registered engineer.
Our responsibility to you
We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable, or for existing defects in your property that our work uncovers but did not cause.
We never limit our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit.
For business customers, our total responsibility for any job is limited to the price of that job, except where the law does not allow this.
If you are not happy
Please tell us straight away so we can put it right. Call or WhatsApp 07923 994434. We reply within 2 working days and aim to resolve things within 14 days. If we can't agree, Citizens Advice can help you with your options, including Trading Standards, alternative dispute resolution or the small claims court.
Law and changes
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You can take a claim to the courts of England and Wales, or, if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, to your local courts. The terms in force on the day you accept a price apply to that job. See also our privacy policy.
