Do you cover Glenfield, Braunstone and Leicester Forest East?
Yes, and this is the area we know best. Our base is in LE3, so Glenfield, Braunstone Town, Leicester Forest East and Kirby Muxloe are only about 2 miles away, and New Parks is just across the city boundary.
That boundary matters less than people think. Most of these villages sit under Blaby District Council, while New Parks is part of Leicester City, but the way we work is the same on both sides: photos first, one fixed price, then the work. Travel is included in your fixed price; distance is simply one of the things that shapes it, along with the job itself.
Is it worth getting someone out for one small job?
Yes. Because we are close by, a single small job is worth our while, and you still get one fixed price agreed before we start.
That said, most homes have a short list of things waiting to be done. If you add them to the same request, they can usually go on one visit, even when they cross trades. A few examples of jobs that pair up well:
- A dead socket and a dripping tap
- Electrical and plumbing, same visit.
- A new light fitting and a TV on the wall
- Cables hidden where the wall allows.
- A sticking door and flat-pack wardrobes
- Handyman jobs done while we're there.
- A noisy bathroom fan and a leaking cistern
- Both usually sorted in one trip.
What should I check in a 1930s or post-war house?
Start with the fuse box. Around Glenfield, Braunstone and New Parks there is a broad mix of 1930s semis and post-war estate homes, and many have been rewired at some point, but the age and condition of the electrics vary a lot from house to house. Extensions, loft conversions and DIY changes over the decades can leave a mix of old and new circuits.
Send photos of the fuse box with the cover on and off, and we can usually tell you whether it needs replacing. Worth a closer look if you notice any of these:
- Rewireable fuses or an old wooden-backed board
- Usually means no RCD protection.
- Round-pin sockets or black rubber cable
- Signs of very old wiring.
- A trip switch that keeps going off
- Often a fault worth tracing early.
- Too few sockets and lots of extension leads
- A common sign of an older layout.
Do you look after rented homes in New Parks and Braunstone?
Yes. We work for landlords and letting agents as well as homeowners, and the area has plenty of rented homes alongside owner-occupied ones.
In England, private landlords need an electrical inspection (EICR) at least every five years and must fix anything the report flags within 28 days, or sooner if the report says so. Send us the report and we price the remedial work as one fixed price. We can also fit smoke alarms on every storey, sort out extractor fans that aren't clearing condensation, and clear the small repairs that build up between tenancies. Gas safety certificates are not our work; those need a Gas Safe registered engineer.
How do I get a price for a job in LE3?
Send photos through the online form or on WhatsApp, with a line or two about what you want doing. We reply within 24 hours with one fixed price for the whole list.
If a job can't be priced fairly from photos, such as a rewire, we arrange a survey visit first. Once you agree the price, that is the price. If something unexpected turns up while we're working, we stop, show you, and price it separately. Nothing extra goes ahead without your approval.
We are open every day from 8am to 8pm, so evening and weekend slots are possible by arrangement.
