Who can fit a kitchen and do the electrics and plumbing too?
We can. Norman is an electrician, plumber and handyman, so the cooker circuit, the sink and appliance plumbing and the units themselves are all handled by one person.
That matters in a kitchen, where one trade often has to wait for another. Instead of booking a fitter, an electrician and a plumber separately, you get one request, one fixed price and, where the job allows, one visit.
A typical example is swapping a freestanding cooker for a built-in oven and induction hob, moving the dishwasher and replacing two water-damaged units. That is electrical, plumbing and carpentry work, and Norman can plan and price it as one job.
- Electrics
- Cooker circuits, sockets, appliance spurs and under-cabinet lighting.
- Plumbing
- Sinks, taps, dishwasher and washing machine connections.
- Carpentry
- Units, doors, hinges, drawers, plinths and end panels.
Do I need an electrician to fit an electric cooker or hob?
Usually, yes. Most electric cookers, ovens and larger hobs can't simply be plugged in. They are typically wired to a dedicated cooker circuit through a cooker switch, and the cable and protection must suit the appliance's rating.
Induction hobs and double ovens can draw a lot of power, so it is worth checking your existing circuit before you buy. Send us a photo of the rating plate or a product link, plus the cooker switch and your fuse box. A new circuit is notified to building control as the law requires.
We don't connect gas cookers or gas hobs. Those need a Gas Safe registered engineer.
Can you repair kitchen units without replacing the whole kitchen?
Yes, and it is often the better option. Many kitchens look tired because of a few small faults rather than the units themselves.
Common fixes include dropped doors, broken hinges, sticking drawers and swollen plinths. Swollen plinths and cupboard bases are often caused by a slow leak under the sink or behind the dishwasher, so we check for that too and fix the source as well as the damage.
- Doors and hinges
- Re-hung, adjusted or replaced so they close evenly.
- Drawers
- New runners and fronts realigned.
- Plinths and end panels
- Replaced where water has damaged them.
- New doors on old carcasses
- A cheaper refresh where the units are sound.
Do you fit worktops, tiles and splashbacks?
Mention them when you send photos and we will tell you plainly whether they can be part of your job.
We don't do structural work, such as removing walls, so a kitchen layout change that involves that would need a builder first. Once that is done, we can fit the units, electrics and plumbing.
How is a kitchen job priced?
Every job gets one fixed price, agreed before any work starts. Appliance installs and repairs can usually be priced from photos. Fitting a run of new units is best priced after a survey visit, so we can measure up and check the walls, pipework and wiring.
If something unexpected turns up, such as old wiring behind a unit or a corroded pipe under the sink, we stop, show you and price it separately. Nothing extra is done without your approval.
We work in homes across Leicester, including Glenfield and Braunstone, and in rented properties for landlords and letting agents.
