Is Shepshed covered separately from Loughborough?
Yes. Shepshed often gets lumped in with its bigger neighbour, but it has its own centre, its own estates and its own mix of jobs, and we cover it directly. It sits in Charnwood Borough Council's area, which only matters if a job raises a council question, such as planning on an older building.
We're about 11 miles from our Leicester base, with the M1 running right past the town. Travel is included in your fixed price; distance is one of the things that shapes it, along with the job itself. That's why a list of jobs on one request gives you the best value from a single trip.
The villages around the town are covered too: Hathern, Long Whatton and Belton. Homes there range from older village houses to modern family homes, so the jobs vary as much as they do in Shepshed itself, from outside lights on a long drive to a dripping kitchen tap.
Can you fit an EV charger for a Shepshed commuter?
Usually, yes, as long as the car parks on your own drive or in a garage. With the motorway on the doorstep, Shepshed is a handy base for commuting by car, and charging overnight at home is the simplest way to run an electric one.
The large newer estates around the edges of the town mostly have driveways, which helps. Before pricing, we check whether your main fuse and meter can take the extra load, whether the fuse board has room for a new circuit, and the best cable route to the parking spot. We fit smart chargers that meet the 2021 smart charge point regulations and notify National Grid Electricity Distribution where required.
If you leave early and get home in the dark, a sensor light or a camera covering the drive can go in on the same visit.
What about the older houses in Shepshed's centre?
They need a different kind of care. The old centre has cottages and terraces far older than the estates around them, and many have been extended, knocked through and rewired in stages over the years. Two things come up often.
The first is electrical: old and newer wiring mixed together, a fuse board without RCD protection, or a kitchen running on too few circuits. We start with fault finding or an inspection rather than assuming a rewire.
The second is plumbing. Old pipework, stiff stopcocks and taps that have seen decades of use tend to drip, seize or weep at joints. These are usually quick fixes, and they sit easily alongside electrical work on one visit.
Can you work around a commute?
Yes. We're open from 8am to 8pm every day, so an early start before you leave, or an evening or weekend slot, is often possible. If you can't be in, tell us how access will work and we'll agree it with you, then send photos when the job is done.
When something can't wait, such as a circuit that won't stay on, tell us: when the diary allows, we come out the same day. For everything else, put the whole list on one request. A charger, a dripping tap, a sticking door and a shelf can usually share one fixed price and one visit, so you only need to arrange access once.
